About the Junior Choir
Welcome to the Junior Choir
This is an Intermediate choir for children who are in P5, 6 & 7.
Rehearsals begin with warm up activities,carefully chosen to develop children’s voices and to prepare them for the songs they will be singing. Most songs are in two-part harmony and children soon become familiar with this concept. The children are given music so that they are learning to follow their part in the music and are becoming more confident with using and reading music
Children are developing their singing, their musicianship, and their knowledge and understanding of music. The importance of the text of the song is always emphasised.
The children are introduced to a diverse range of repertoire, learning songs in at least two different languages each season. They perform in three DJC concerts each year.
